Jaunsar Public School, Chakrata, was established in the year 1981 as the first English Medium Force School for the purpose of teaching the wards of the personnel of Indian Army and SFF posted at the station as well as the children of the local town. It was known as The Special Frontier Force School till the year 1994 and later renamed as Jaunsar Public School.

The school is based in a Church 1884 vintage, located on a pristine spur overlooking a valley.

The school is managed within the resources of the Force under the policy guidelines issued by the IG, Special Frontier Force. The management of the school will be governed by the Constitution and rules governing the Administration and supersedes all previous rules on the subject.

The school is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi wef April 2000.
